How much would you be willing to pay for a single ice cube?
Kuramoto Ice, a century-old ice factory in Kanazawa, Japan, transforms seemingly unremarkable ice cubes into exquisite pieces, with some fetching export prices as high as 200 yen.
Their pure ice production emphasizes a “slow” process: the water is kept flowing during the ice-making process, allowing it to freeze slowly for two to three days to remove air bubbles and impurities.
These premium ice cubes are not only popular in Japanese bars but are also exported to Singapore, Australia, and the United States, becoming part of high-end cocktails.
