Poland is one of the world’s leading exporters of Christmas decorations, renowned for its hand-blown and painted Christmas spheres. A 30-year-old family workshop on the outskirts of Warsaw, the capital, is world-famous for its exquisite traditional craftsmanship. Despite its higher prices, it has maintained a strong foothold in the international market and is extremely busy this Christmas season. The news highlights a critical tension: highly valued, authentic traditional craftsmanship (high cost, high quality) struggling against mass-market efficiency (low cost, high volume). The Polish factory’s refusal to use AI in production, while maintaining aesthetic relevance, is its key competitive advantage—it underscores the growing market demand for proven authenticity and human touch in luxury goods. My startup idea is to resolve the core pain points of scaling artisanal production without sacrificing authenticity, leveraging technology not for automation, but for precision, education, and market access. We are launching a company called “Atelier Traced.”
