Adaptive Security, a New York-based cybersecurity company specializing in AI-powered social engineering prevention, recently announced a $43 million Series A funding round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI Startup Fund. This marks OpenAI’s first investment in a cybersecurity startup.
The funding will be used to expand Adaptive Security’s research and development team and enhance its AI-driven solutions, which simulate deepfake attacks, phishing schemes, and other threats to train employees and assess vulnerabilities. The company’s platform also offers real-time threat triage, risk scoring, and tailored remediation training for employees who fail simulated attacks.
Since its public launch in January 2025, Adaptive Security has gained over 100 enterprise customers, including notable organizations like the Dallas Mavericks, First State Bank, and BMC.
