Ryanair, Europe’s largest low-cost airline, has issued a recommendation urging passengers to avoid using suitcases with black, gray, and navy outer shells. These colors are the most common among travelers and often lead to confusion at baggage claim. The airline highlighted that such confusion can result in delays and even accidental luggage swaps, as dark-colored suitcases are difficult to distinguish from one another on the carousel.
To address this issue, Ryanair advises passengers to make their luggage more identifiable. Suggestions include choosing suitcases in bright colors like yellow, red, or green, using vibrant luggage covers or tags, and adding colorful ribbons to the handles.
These measures can help ensure quick identification and reduce the risk of mix-ups.
However, one baggage handler cautioned against using ribbons, as they might interfere with automated scanning systems during processing.
This advice aligns with Ryanair’s broader focus on streamlining travel experiences for its passengers while minimizing potential complications.
